Accused

In legal terms, the accused is a person who has been charged with breaking the law. They are also known as the defendant.

The person will be referred to as the accused up to and throughout any trial until the charges have been dealt with and the matter concluded.

It is important to note that an accused person is innocent, until if, and only if, proven guilty.
